A lot of years ago, when I began researching our family name, I thought all the Vandegrifts were probably related some way.  I thought some took the name Vandegrift, some took Vandergrift, etc.  I knew there were various spellings.  Our name was misspelled all the time and so I began recording all names with similar spellings.  Over the years it resulted in locating a lot of information – too much to try to put on a web page.

Finally, I have seen enough documents to decide that we are descended from the original family.
